During our Summer 3G Series Nobel Neighbors partnered with U Can Turn It Around NFP, West Park Academy, and First Little Steps Daycare to offer parent workshops in the community. The Workshops were facilitated by U Can Turn It Around NFP and part of their Parent University Series. They covered topics like Effective Discipline and Helping Your Child to Make Difficult Choices. The Workshops were part of Nobel’s 3 G Summer Series Gathering, Gardening and Guiding.

U Can Turn It Around Parent Workshop

Neighbors gathered together for an afternoon of Holiday Carols, gifts, hot chocolate and cookies in the Children’s Garden of Hope. Neighbors have been gathering to spread holiday cheer for 5 years.

On August 21, 2018 Nobel Neighbors celebrated National Seniors Day with residents of North & Pulaski Senior Apartments. As part of our Summer 3G Series we gathered with the Golden Agers in our community for an afternoon of lunch, sharing and singing. Nobel Neighbors realizes the important contribution to the community that seniors give. It was a great afternoon and many connections were made!

Nobel Neighbors Hosted the 2nd event of its Summer 3G Series “The Great Trim Up” on July 25th 2018. Nobel Neighbors partnered with barbers from the community to offer free haircuts, food and to build and fellowship with the community. Participants were excited about to receive their free haircuts and to learn about the renovations that are going on in the garden. Participants received a tour of the garden and learned about the kind of plants and trees that were there and they were able to spread grass seeds to the areas that needed them. Representatives from Neighbor Space were also on hand to share information about the garden renovations. Thank you to The Chicago Community Trust, The Sulzer Foundations and Allstate for their donations that have enabled us to continually engage the community. Nobel Neighbors in partnership with the Chicago Community Trust presents the “Summer 3 G Series” Gathering Gardening and Guiding! The purpose of the series is to create meaningful events and dialogue in the community with the goal of addressing violence. Our first event was “The Great Smoke Out” June 28th 2018 This was a community barbecue. Neighbors gathered together to fellowship, talk about their community and come up with ideas to minimize violence in the area. Neighbors were excited and grateful and look forward to more events. Thank you to The Chicago Community Trust, The Sulzer Foundation and Allstate for their donations that allow us to engage the community in discussions around stopping the violence. Nobel Neighbors gathers every other Tuesday of the month for breakfast at Bills located at 4359 West Division in Chicago IL. The purpose of the meetings is to bring community members together to discuss issues that are important in the community. In addition to community residents, local politicians often drop by to connect with their constituents. It’s a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and talk to the people who represent you, If you are interested in learning more about the breakfast at Bills contact our program coordinator Ms. Jackson at 312-783-5528

Nobel Neighbors is committed to building strong community partnerships. One of the way that we connect to the community is to partner with schools and local authorities. Nobel’s program coordinator Venus Jackson was present at West Park Academy’s Fall 2017 report card pick up day along with community relations representative Ms. Chavero from the 25th police district to inform residents about services that are offered as well as the community caps meetings.

Nobel Neighbors is one of the stakeholders at the Children’s Garden of Hope located at 4052 W Potomac Ave, Chicago, IL 60651. Nobel Neighbors board of directors, program coordinator 25th Police District and local community organization 1STV braved a chilly fall day to provide food and inspiration to residents of the community on Oct 28th 2017. Nobel Neighbors program coordinator Ms. Jackson stays in sync with new developments in the community. Residents need to know what is being done in their community and who they need to go to when things need to be done. Even though a lot of negative things are reported in the media great things happen in our community as well. A new basketball court was installed on the 600 North block of Harding.

Safety is a major concern in the community that we serve. Nobel Neighbors was surprised to learn that the 25th District was number 7 in the city for reports of child abuse. Nobel Neighbors board president collaborated with the 25th police district and West Park Academy to host an awareness event to educate the community on the topic of child abuse.
